“To Leave” in kanji. Japanese calligraphy art by Nao.

To Leave

sa-ru, kyo, ko

Here we are. We left the Blog we started in 2009 and came here under our new website.

As a rule, the title of each blog post indicates the meaning of the day’s character. Today’s title is one of the exceptions we rarely make but you can still find some connection between the title and the character. “To leave” is the meaning of this character (saru). The past tense of saru is satta, which means “somebody left.”

Bygones can be expressed with this character, too. For example, kyonen means last year. Kako means the past.
