As you might notice, a part of yesterday’s character is this one. The part depicts a zigzag, which implies that things do not work smoothly. When the character indicates the order, today’s kanji means the second.
When something such as your words or fashion is described as “otsu 乙,” it’s admired as witty or stylish.
This is a one-stroke character. Write it from the top.
