To Obey

shitaga-u, shitaga-eru, , shō, ju

One obeys or follows rules or their superiors. To obey and to follow in such occasions can be expressed by the verb shitagau. Bosses lead subordinates. ‘To lead’ in this context is translated as shitagaeru.

The relationship between a master and a servant is expressed as shukankei.


  1. Write the sweeping stroke in the upper left corner.
  2. Write another sweeping stroke.
  3. Write the vertical stroke touching the previous stroke.
  4. Begin to write the right-hand side of the character. Write the dot on the top.
  5. Write the sweeping dot on the top.
  6. Write the horizontal stroke.
  7. Write the vertical stroke.
  8. Write the shorter horizontal stroke touching the previous stroke.
  9. Write the sweeping stroke falling leftward.
  10. Write the longest sweeping stroke falling rightward.
