I love your work. It is beautiful and I am loving learning about what each character and words means. However, I came across your comment: "Somehow, I feel jin is slightly different from love that Christians understand." above and that made me so sad:(

Because that is EXACTLY what Christians are supposed to be:
"So, as those who have been chosen of God, holy and beloved, put on a heart of compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience; bearing with one another, and forgiving each other, whoever has a complaint against anyone; just as the Lord forgave you, so also should you. Beyond all these things put on love, which is the perfect bond of unity. Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, to which indeed you were called in one body; and be thankful. Let the word of Christ richly dwell within you, with all wisdom teaching and admonishing one another with psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with thankfulness in your hearts to God. Whatever you do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks through Him to God the Father." Colossians 3:12-17

And the Apostle Paul told us this:
If I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, but do NOT have love, I have become a noisy gong or a clanging cymbal." 1 Corinthians 13:1

I am so sorry that of the 80% of Americans that claim to be Christian, only about TWELVE PERCENT actually act as Jesus instructed us to.

I promise you, we are out there! We love! Love wins all! The Fruits of the Spirit of a True Believer of The Way, or The "Do" (Jesus), are Love, Joy, Peace, Patience, Kindness, Goodness, Gentleness, and Self-Control - Galatians 5.

I am so sorry that you have not experienced many of us. You mentioned in your post about Way, Bushido - The Way of the Warrior. studied HimeBushido, the Way of the Warrior Princess - and she is to clothe herself with love and compassion, honor and virtue, and to be fierce when needing to protect her home. Love is actually the most supreme virtue of the Samurai.

I am only a quarter Japanese, but I relate most to the Naijo. Interestingly, I just found out today that my husbands name represents 3 characters - shi (samurai character not words for poetry), dou (surprisingly means way or path), and then ni for benevolence.

I'm blown away. Anyways, I love this blog! Thank you so much for sharing!! I pray that the true followers of Jesus will show themselves worthy of putting His Name on them - only through LOVE!!!

Alice Sensei and Nao Sensei (as I consider you both to be wonderful teachers), thank you for your continuing to develop and present more and more complex characters to learn yet in such an accessible and clear way. Both your brief text and visuals make for excellent learning.

This is a beautiful character to watch being made. It strikes me as complex, unusual.
Very nice website, thank you!

This is a great site. Are you still building this? If yes, can you add Respect, Trust, Honor, Communication, and Understanding.

I want to get these words tattooed including Love to symbolize what a relationship needs to flourish. Is it appropriate to get these in a line or side by side? What would be the proper placement? Thanks!

Yousei Hime san,
Thank you for visiting and commenting. I agree. It's a busy character. The left part implies that something ends completely. The right part means 'a fight.'
Best wishes.
